Blackberry Torch

Blackberry have been rather quiet over the beginning months of 2011, not really making many announcements over new phones and letting the market settle into the new year before they reveal any further plans. This sounds like they may be short of ideas but it is likely that they are letting the Blackberry Torch, their high end, Autumn 2010 release, continue its great sales throughout the first half of 2011. The Torch, one of the last big smart phone releases of 2010, has performed very well for Research in Motion and for good reason, it is a great mobile phone and one of the most consumer friendly BlackBerry's ever. The Canadian firm were looking for a new phone to bring them into a new fun orientated market and the Torch has succeeded with aplomb but what exactly is the phone offering?

Well to start with the phone is run with a 624 MHz processor, this is not as quick as the majority of its rivals at the top of the smart phone game but it does not seem to affect the running of the phone greatly, which is good. This has been vital to the success of the Blackberry Torch as all of the phones new features, from the host of applications to the multimedia features need a good processor to run them smoothly and this is what you get.

The phone also boasts a very good touch screen, something we have not seen on many Blackberry's in the past, but something that will likely happen more and more in the coming years. The screen has a resolution of 360 x 480 fit at 3.2 inches in size. "What about the Blackberry QWERTY keyboard though?" I hear you asking, well on the Torch you get that as well as the full 35 key pad slides out from behind the screen. The Torch avoids falling into the trap, which many slide out keyboard phones fall into, of making the phone too chunky so not only does the phone have some great hardware, it also looks rather good as well.
